Billy

This week's featured collector is huge Norwich City fan Billy Pointer, better known as Norwich Shirts on his socials. He is one of, if not the, biggest Norwich City shirt collector. Billy is 31 years old and a Norwich City home season ticket holder and a Group 1 away member so goes to plenty of Norwich away games. Currently he has 561 shirts in his collection, consisting completely of match worn/player issued Norwich City shirts. These range from 1971-2022 at present. Win or lose, Billy loves Norwich.

Norwich City 1994 Academy

This unusual, rare, unheard of red and white Ribero long sleeved shirt is an unregistered Norwich shirt but was worn in a youth team tournament in 1994. The information on this shirt was very limited, to the point that we didn’t even know if this was used, until a former City player Alex Allen was going through some old VHS videos. He came across some footage of the players playing in the tournament, against teams such as Celtic, wearing this shirt.

Norwich City 1985 Home

This extremely rare Milk Cup final shirt was worn at the old Wembley on the 24th March 1985. This shirt by Hummel was created especially for the final and features Hummel’s trade mark chevrons down the side of the shirt. The shirt was worn by Peter Mendham.

Norwich City 1993/94 Away

This away shirt is one of my absolute favourites due to its design and the name and number set. They are up there as one of the best that Norwich have had. This shirt was only worn once against Bradford City in the Coca Cola Cup. The rarity is increased with this shirt because of the fact that this shirt was worn by Ian Crook, who features in the Norwich City Hall of Fame.

Norwich City 1979/80 Goalkeeper

This shirt is Kevin Keelan’s last shirt he wore for Norwich City on the 9th Feb 1980. The Norwich City legend with over 670 appearances in goal for the club, which will probably never be beaten due to modern day footballers tending not to stay at clubs for over 10 years any more. This Admiral shirt will always be remembered because the kit lady stitched his initials above the badge before his last few games.

Norwich City 13/14 Home

On the 19th May 2013 vs. Manchester City, Norwich wore the 13/14 home shirt for the final game of the 12/13 season to promote the new shirt. This shirt was worn by Grant Holt, where he scored and Norwich went on to win 3-2. This shirt has big significance, as Grant Holt was sold over the summer, so never wore the 13/14 shirt in the 13/14 season. It turned out to be his final shirt for the club.

My Collection

My collection of Norwich shirts creates a nostalgic love for everyone to enjoy, and also, as the club doesn't keep any shirts itself, I'm preserving the clubs history for others to enjoy now and years to come. Preserving the club's history will make the enjoyment for everyone else in the future easier to share and enjoy. Collecting the shirts that have a history behind them always brings happiness and smiles regardless of the good or bad times.
