Andy Cowan

With one of our favorite collections around, Andy Cowan from Dumfries, Scotland, shows us five stunners from his years of hunting down shirts of all stripes. We love his focus on Everton, game issues, and shared appreciation for name sets and badges. Andy gives us a peek at his faves, but if you want to see more of his collection, check out his shirt dedicated IG and say hi to one of the nicest guys in the kit community.

Everton / 14-15 / Home / Eto'o

Samuel Eto'o - one of the finest and most decorated strikers of his generation and a name I thought I’d never see on an Everton shirt. Despite the rumours of his unsettling influence on the team during his brief spell at Goodison, I’m delighted to own one of his shirts from Everton’s Europa League campaign that year.

Inter Milan / 98-99 / Home / Ronaldo

Before Cristiano, we had the OG Ronaldo. So good, he was nicknamed “The Phenomenon”. In the late 90s, even in the small town in Scotland where I grew up, this young Brazilian was idolised in the school playground. Ideally, I’d have Umbro’s shirt from the previous season, but this Nike effort will do for now!

Scotland / 98-00 / Home

Back then, 11 year old me didn’t know it would be 20+ years of crushing disappointment until I saw Scotland at a major tournament again. France 98 is the first World Cup I really remember and Brazil v Scotland was the opening match. Scotland battled bravely and Brazil were fortunate to win 2-1 thanks to an own goal.

Barcelona / 18-19 / Home / Messi

Messi or Ronaldo? For me, it’s always been the Alien Boy from Rosario. I’d already seen him in the flesh during a friendly match v Dundee United, but it was a dream of mine to go see him at the Nou Camp. My wife and I went for a long weekend in Spring 2019 and we saw him play v Rayo Vallecano. Next trip? Paris!

Queen of the South / 2019 / Centenary / Dobbie

"Believe it if you can, he’s better than Zidane” is how the song goes. Stephen Dobbie, of Queen of the South - my hometown team - scored 166 goals in 283 games for the Dumfries club. This special edition centenary shirt produced by Macron, with a retro lace up collar and gold details, is a real beauty!
